Nainital is about 296 km from Delhi — NH9 through Moradabad and Rampur to Haldwani, then roughly 35 km of ghat road up to the lake. Six to seven hours, and the last stretch is the slow one.
Two things shape this trip and neither is on any other cab website: Nainital restricts light vehicles entering the town during the evening in peak months, and there is no fast charger anywhere in the town. We plan for both before we leave Delhi.

Charging on the Delhi to Nainital route
This is the route where the charging plan matters most. There is no DC fast charger in Nainital at all — the town has only slow AC points, and the nearest fast charging is down at Haldwani, 35 km and about 1,400 metres below, which closes in the evening. So we charge properly at Moradabad on the way up and arrive with enough range for local running and the descent. A car that reaches Nainital low on charge cannot be quickly refilled there.

What to know about this drive
- In May, June and October the district restricts light vehicles entering Nainital between 18:00 and 22:00. That makes clearing the Haldwani ghat before 18:00 the single most important timing decision of the day, and it is why we push for an early Delhi departure.
- Kainchi Dham, the most-requested stop on this route, does not allow taxis on Saturdays or Sundays at any time of year. On a weekend you park at Bhimtal or Bhowali and take the shuttle. We will tell you this at booking rather than at the barrier.
- Parking on Mall Road is prohibited in summer and autumn, and when the town lots fill, vehicles are turned back to overflow parking outside. Tell us your hotel and we will confirm where the car can actually go.

What time should we leave Delhi for Nainital?
Early — around 05:00. In May, June and October the district restricts light vehicles entering Nainital between 18:00 and 22:00, so the aim is to be up the ghat well before six in the evening.
Can we stop at Kainchi Dham on the way?
On a weekday, yes. On Saturdays and Sundays taxis are not allowed into the temple area at all, year round — you park at Bhimtal or Bhowali and take the shuttle. We plan for it if your trip falls on a weekend.
Which route is better, via Rampur or via Kaladhungi?
Rampur and Haldwani is the standard route and usually the quicker one. In peak season the administration can enforce entry via the Kaladhungi road and exit via Patwadangar, so the choice is sometimes made for us.
Where does the car park in Nainital?
Not on Mall Road — parking there is banned in summer and autumn. Depending on your hotel it will be Sukhatal, the Mallital flats or a hotel's own parking, and in peak weekends the town lots fill and cars are held outside. Send us your hotel and we will confirm before you travel.
Will an electric car make it to Nainital without running out of charge?

We budget a full hour for a charging stop, and we schedule it where you would want a break anyway - somewhere with a clean restroom and food. Often it takes less, but we plan the day on an hour so a busy charger does not put you behind schedule.
